On 1 August 2025, an awareness program on handling emergency situations, particularly involving fires, was held at Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, Kuala Lumpur. Organized by the Safety and Environment Unit of Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, this program aimed to provide exposure on the initial steps to take during a fire.
Not only that, but staff were also trained to act in an orderly and safe manner during emergencies, as well as to ensure that all personnel are aware of the locations of fire extinguishers and emergency exit routes. This also fulfills compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and the Fire Services Act.
According to the Safety and Environment Officer of Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, Mr. Wajdi Muizz Jumali, this program also involved the participation of the Fire and Rescue Department with the cooperation of the Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Station.
The Fire and Rescue officers and personnel who attended not only provided theoretical safety briefings but also conducted practical demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers, in addition to offering ideas to improve the hospital’s fire prevention systems.
Thus, this program clearly demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to strengthening its safety culture. Similar programs will continue to be held periodically, with plans for an annual full-scale implementation together with the Fire and Rescue Department, as well as monthly safety briefings conducted by the vendor.
