Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, formerly known as Kampong Baru Medical Centre (KBMC), was officially founded on 13 May 1994 and began operations on 24 September 1996.
Established through the Da’wah Bil-Hal initiative under Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), in collaboration with Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia (PPIM) and Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), the hospital was built to fulfil fardu kifayah—providing quality healthcare rooted in Islamic values, while integrating medical excellence with social responsibility.
Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, directly opposite Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, our hospital offers more than just specialist care—it creates a spiritually nurturing environment for patients and visitors.
In 2006, we introduced the Ibadah-Friendly Hospital concept, focusing on helping patients continue their acts of worship during treatment. This includes training for dialysis patients, elderly caregivers, midwives, and others involved in care during illness—both locally and internationally.
On 24 August 2008, we officially rebranded as Al-Islam Specialist Hospital, carrying a renewed vision to provide holistic, affordable, and spiritually mindful healthcare. With a legacy built on professionalism, compassion, and Islamic ethics, we continue to serve as a model for ibadah-integrated healthcare, impacting communities in Malaysia and across the globe.
