Al Islam Specialist Hospital was formerly known as Kampong Baru Medical Centre and was founded on 13 May 1994. It began operations on 24 September 1996. The hospital was established through the Da’wah Bil Hal initiative under Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia, in collaboration with Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia and the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations. It was built to fulfil fardu kifayah by providing quality healthcare guided by Islamic values, medical professionalism, and social responsibility. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, directly opposite Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, Al Islam Specialist Hospital serves patients from across Malaysia and the surrounding region. The hospital provides comprehensive specialist medical services in a setting that supports physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. Patient care is delivered with respect, compassion, and a strong ethical foundation. In 2006, the hospital introduced the Ibadah Friendly Hospital concept. This approach supports patients in continuing their acts of worship during illness and treatment. It includes structured guidance for patients, caregivers, healthcare staff, and families. Training programs have been conducted for dialysis patients, elderly caregivers, midwives, and healthcare teams both locally and internationally. This reflects the hospital’s commitment to holistic care that addresses medical needs alongside spiritual and emotional support. On 24 August 2008, the hospital was officially rebranded as Al Islam Specialist Hospital. This marked a renewed commitment to accessible, affordable, and holistic specialist healthcare in Malaysia. The hospital continues to grow its clinical services, specialist expertise, and service development while maintaining strong governance and ethical medical practice. With decades of experience, Al Islam Specialist Hospital remains dedicated to safe, patient centred care that integrates clinical excellence with Islamic principles, offering patients confidence, dignity, and trusted healthcare close to the community.
